Hoppy Easter - Easter Candy Sticks w/Jessica - Giveaway is CLOSED

Good Morning Trendy Twiners!!!!
Jessica here from Chick-n-Scrap!
Can you believe it is already April??? The month's are just flying by and with
Easter  right around the corner  I have a sweet treat to share that is perfect for filling the kids Easter baskets using one of the featured colors for the month~
 Bubblegum Taffy

Candy sticks are one of my favorite treats to make and the possibility to decorate the cute tags for them are endless.
I based my project on the new Trendy Twine challenge that just went up yesterday.

The Challenge......
Easter or floral theme
stitching (real with twine - including machine stitch - or faux with pen, ink, etc.)
and of course...
Trendy Twine

**If you do not have Trendy Twine, use hemp, jute,

embroidery thread, or yarn only; NO ribbon

(no other brands of bakers twine)**

I ended up making 6 of these candy sticks. My kids will probably snag these up to hand out to their teachers...well at least the little one will :)

I was super excited to find the spring time M&M's that are a PERFECT match to the Bubblegum Taffy Trendy Twine. After pulling out all the blue and pink ones (and eating a few yellow ones in between) I filled my Skinny Candy Bags and placed them aside while I made my tags.
The tags were all made using scrap papers from my stash. I found perfect pink and blue polka dot papers and add a small strip of the opposite papers to each one. Then using my sewing machine, I added a white stitched border to each tag.
Once those were all stitched, I put the rest of the tag together, stamping my cute bunny and adding stickles to their ears, nose and tails.

Once they were all dry I attached the tags to my candy sticks.
~I am going to let you in on a secret...I found the BEST way to attach the tags to the candy sticks. (maybe you already know this but I always struggle with how to attach my tags)
Ok, so I took my tag and the candy stick and lined them up at the top where I wanted my tag to sit. Then using my crop~a~dile I punched a hole through the tag AND the plastic candy stick.I threaded the twine through the hole in the tag....then the holes in the bag and tied my bows. Not only does it hold the tag in place...it is really sturdy too.. you would have to yank really hard to get that tag to come off!
~ Want to know another secret, I add more adhesive to the flap that closes the candy stick so there is no way that bag is coming undone unless it is meant to~meaning someone is trying to open it for those treats :)

Supplies used:
Paper~ Kraft, Scrap blue polka dot, pink polka dot, white
Stamps~ Cornish Heritage Farms~Sweet Spring
Dies/Cuts~ Tag~Silhouette Store
sewing machine, stickles, pop dots

And here are the 2 spotlighted colors this month!
Make sure to pick them up..they are on sale all month long!!

  8. This is a super cute project. I really like your stitching around the tags. I asked for a sewing machine for Christmas a few years ago just so I could learn to stitch my paper projects, but I've never tried it. Your bunny image is super cute and the colors are perfect with those M&M's.
